Brandon Jennings injury: Pistons PG helped off the court with apparent lower leg injury

Jennings appeared to take a normal step, but went down in serious pain.

Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings left the game on Saturday after suffering an apparent injury during the third quarter. Jennings was playing defense when the injury occurred. He took a normal step and his ankle didn't appear to buckle, but Jennings reacted immediately and dropped to the court.

Jennings' left ankle appeared to flex as he planted on the foot, raising question that the injury could be foot, ankle or Achilles' tendon related. He remained down on the court for a while and was tended to by trainers. Jennings was eventually loaded into a wheelchair and wheeled off the court.

The 25-year-old is in the midst of his second season in Detroit. He's averaging 15.4 points and 6.7 assists per game while playing less than 29 minutes per contest. He has been playing his best basketball of the season recently and entered the game on Saturday averaging 21.3 points and 7.5 assists per game in January. He leads the Pistons in scoring and assists and his 19.7 PER is third on the team.
