New Hampshire track executive arrested for indecent exposure, lewdness

The general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway was arrested for indecent exposure and lewdness last week, according to a report by WMUR-TV.

Jerry Gappens, New Hampshire's executive vice president and general manager since 2008, was "engaged in sexual activity with a woman inside a car" when Manchester (N.H.) police cited him. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Gappens' attorney issued a statement made available to SB Nation:

"Mr. Gappens acknowledges using poor judgment that has resulted in a misdemeanor charge that is both embarrassing and devastating to him and his family, and for that, he sincerely apologizes.

"He regrets his actions. While he made a bad decision, he did not, in my opinion, engage in conduct that violates the referenced statute or any other criminal law. Mr. Gappens cooperated fully with the police, and we hope to have this difficult situation resolved soon."

According to the track's website, Gappens and his wife and daughter reside in Bedford, N.H. He also has two adult sons who live in North Carolina.
