If Julio Jones is active for the Falcons Sunday, it would likely be in a decreased role. We break down the fantasy implications.
Atlanta Falcons' wide receiver Julio Jones could only be a "decoy" if he suits up Sunday, per beat reporter D. Orlando Ledbetter.
Jones sustained a hip injury late in his Week 14 matchup after lighting up the Green Bay Packers' defense, and was subsequently held out of practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the following week. Should Jones be active on Sunday, it appears that his role would likely be decreased, as Ledbetter went on to say that Jones could barely run. He is expected to be a game-time decision.
Fantasy Spin: This couldn't have come at a worse time for fantasy owners, who likely made it into the playoffs on Jones' merits over the past few weeks. Over his last two games, Jones has caught 21 passes for 448 yards and two touchdowns, but his health will likely prevent him from getting anywhere close to those peaks in the fantasy playoffs.
Jones would be best left on benches this weekend, and desperate owners can pick up Harry Douglas if necessary. Douglas caught 85 passes for 1,067 yards in 2013, a season that Jones missed most of due to a foot injury.
