Super Bowl 49 prop bets: Coin toss odds, national anthem length

Super Bowl props generate a ton of hype and a ton of profit potential. The coin toss and national anthem are two of the most popular.

The Super Bowl coin toss is an even-odds bet but maybe 'heads' and 'NFC' should be favored, based on recent history. Five of the last six coin tosses in the Super Bowl have landed on heads, with tails breaking up a five-toss losing skid last year. And the NFC team is riding a 15-2 streak in this supposedly even-odds prop.

Which side the coin will land on is one of hundreds of fun prop bets available on Super Bowl Sunday.

Heads and tails are each going off at -105 at the sportsbooks. While there are plenty of Super Bowl props that bettors can handicap, the coin toss offers a nice reprieve for those bettors just looking to have some fun.

Bettors can also wager on which team will win the coin toss at -105 on both sides between New England and Seattle.

Seattle correctly called tails in last year's Super Bowl victory against the Denver Broncos. Seattle is 2-0 all time in Super Bowl coin tosses while New England has gone just 2-5 on the toss in its seven Super Bowl appearances.

Other coin toss prop bets include betting on whether the team that wins the toss will go on to win the game and betting on whether the team that calls it in the air will be correct.

Unsurprisingly, history shows the coin flip to be exactly what it is; a coin flip. Heads and tails are tied at 24 apiece and the team winning the toss has gone on to win or lose the Super Bowl 24 times each.

Idina Menzel is penciled in to sing this year's pregame National Anthem. The line on her length of time to sing it is set at two minutes and one second, with the OVER going off at -130 and the UNDER going off at -110.

Over the last nine Super Bowls, the anthem has been sang in an average time of one minute and 56 seconds. Bettors that remember Christina Aguilera's lyrical miscue might want to bet on whether Menzel will omit any words with "Yes" at +400 and "No" at -600.

What color Gatorade will the game's winning coach be showered in? Orange is the favorite at 3/2 (as this was the color Pete Carroll was doused in last year) over Yellow (5/2), Clear/Water (3/1), Blue (15/2), Red (15/2) and Green (10/1).
