Rex Ryan expects to be fired by the Jets, according to report

The Jets coach has reportedly cleared out his office as the team begins contacting replacement candidates.

Rex Ryan has already cleared out his office in anticipation of being fired by the New York Jets, reports Dom Cosentino for NJ.com. Charley Casserly, apparently hired by Jets owner Woody Johnson as a consultant, had begun contacting potential replacements for Ryan and GM John Idzik, Cosentino reports. In anticipation of being officially canned after the Jets' final game of the season Sunday in Miami, Ryan apparently got his stuff out of the team's facility.

The Jets are 3-12. Ryan has a 45-50 record in six seasons as the Jets' head coach, but hasn't taken New York to the playoffs since 2010. This has been the Jets' worst season by far since he was hired in 2009.

Cosentino's report indicates that Idzik, who has run the Jets' front office for two years, may also be on his way out.

Ryan will not likely be the only NFL head coach to be fired on and in advance of the day termed "Black Monday." Jim Harbaugh is expected to part ways with the 49ers, and Chicago's Marc Trestman has been rumored to be on the hot seat.
