The NHL has 11 games slated for New Year's Eve, highlighted out west by the Ducks and Sharks doing battle at the Honda Center in Anaheim.
The Anaheim Ducks host the San Jose Sharks in a Pacific Division showdown on Wednesday evening, highlighting an 11-game NHL schedule on New Year's Eve.
The Ducks (24-8-6) lead the NHL with 54 points, and hold an 11-point division lead over the Sharks (19-12-5), who lost at home to Vancouver on Tuesday night. Both the Ducks and Sharks are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. Anaheim is 12-3-3 at home this season.
San Jose has won two of its three meetings with the Ducks this season, with the only loss coming in overtime in Anaheim on Dec. 22.
Elsewhere on Wednesday's slate, the New York Islanders (24-11-1), tied for first place in the Metropolitan Division with Pittsburgh, head north to face the Winnipeg Jets (19-11-7), and the Boston Bruins (19-15-3) host the Toronto Maple Leafs (20-14-3) in an Atlantic Division showdown.
