Bryant Gumbel, Katie Couric remember discovering the Internet in BMW's Super Bowl commercial

BMW's 2015 Super Bowl commercial starts with a classic viral video. It's a TODAY Show clip from 1994 where Katie Couric and Bryant Gumbel are confused about the Internet — particularly, the @ symbol.

Hmm.

Bryant Gumbel: "I mean, what is Internet anyway? What do you write to it like mail?"

Katie Couric: "Allison, can you explain what Internet is?

Fast forward to the 21st century and the pair are in a BMW i3 discussing the ~future~ of cars ... and other stuff.

Bryant Gumble: Can you twerk?

Katie Couric: Maybe!

The message is clear because it's right in the YouTube description:

In 1994, no one knew how big the internet would be. 21 years later, a new big idea has people scratching their heads again. #HelloFuture

Welcome to the future. A place where you still don't know how cars work — but they work in a different, better way than they do now.

OK, just watch the commercial:
