Iowa State swats the bejeezus out of Oklahoma State's game-winner attempt

The Cowboys had a chance to beat No. 17 Iowa State at the buzzer. Dustin Hogue was NOT HAVING IT

Most of the time, a defender has to account for several possibilities: the player with the ball could drive, pass, or shoot. When there is one second left in the game, they only have one possibility. So Dustin Hogue knew Tavarius Shine was going to shoot this shot and dealt with it appropriately:

I can't say I remember a block this violent on a potential game-winner. This is where the HEY, SHOULDN'T YOU TRY TO KEEP THE BALL INBOUNDS TO SEAL THE GAME INSTEAD OF GIVING THE OPPONENT THE BALL?!?!?!?! crew might pop up normally, and they do have a point. But it should be noted this situation provides an interesting caveat: the clock runs until the ball hits something. So a shot-blocker could allow the game clock to run out by spiking a shot with enough force and at the right trajectory.

The Cowboys got another shot, but Georges Niang blocked that, too. (It didn't go as far as this one.) And thus the Cyclones left with a 63-61 win.
