The Sabres goalie might have made the save of the year.
The Buffalo Sabres defied the odds on Friday and gave the Tampa Bay Lightning one heck of a battle. The catalyst behind their effort was goalie Michal Neuvirth, who withstood a hailstorm of shots and made a miraculous glove save along the way.
Brett Connolly had deked his way in on Neuvirth, who bit hard on one last fake and got pulled out of position.
His recovery was awesome.
Connolly got a little too sure of himself. Instead of roofing the puck, he tried to slide it in on the forehand, sure that Neuvirth was beaten.
He was wrong.
Always roof the puck, Connolly. Always.
