David Moyes faces Barcelona for the first time with his side badly needing points.
The last time Barcelona visited the Anoeta Stadium they were thoroughly beaten 3-1 by La Real, but that was a different time, and much different teams. La Real have been dreadful for the most part this season, having won just three matches so far. Barca on the other hand have been a bit up and down, though it hasn't stopped them from perching themselves in second place.
You might even say it's David vs. Goliath ... if you'd like.
David Moyes, who was hired a little a bit less than two months ago by La Real, seems to have stabilized the team a bit after their rough start, though it's yet to lead to a greater league success. La Real have earned just six points from their last five matches, and haven't won a league match since late November.
Barca entered the winter break with an emphatic 5-0 win over Córdoba, recovering nicely from their scoreless draw against Getafe the week before.
Carlos Vela is set to return after missing La Real's last two matches with a knock, whether or not he starts remains to be seen, but he should at least make the bench. Thomas Vermaelen is Barca's only missing player with a long-term hamstring injury. Though, as he's yet to take the field for the Blaugrana since signing over the summer, is he really being missed?
