There is only one possible explanation for this. If you play NBA 2K, you know that you can shoot in two ways: there's a shoot button, and there's a stick that allows you to take different types of shots -- pull back for a fadeaway, push forward for a leaner, go up to the left by pulling it left, etc. If you just lightly tap this stick by accident while trying to press another button, your player will appear to have become possessed and hoist an awkward shot in a random direction. It looks like Marc Gasol's shot stick got tapped without him realizing it, and he had to do this. (We could just note that he went too far under the rim without realizing it, but that'd be no fun.)
