Howard's status for the NHL All-Star game is suddenly in doubt.
There's a decent chance that Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard doesn't make the trip to the All-Star Game after all.
Howard was injured in the first period on Saturday while trying to make a save and had to leave the game on a stretcher. This happened merely an hour after he was named to the 2015 NHL All-Star game. That certainly takes a back seat now that he's suffered what looked to be a pretty painful injury.
There's no word on the severity of the injury, but don't be surprised if it's groin-related or listed as "lower-body". Howard essentially did the splits while trying to make that save and couldn't skate off the ice.
