Panthers vs. Seahawks: Betting odds, spread, preview, and prediction

Two of the NFC's hottest teams clash when the Carolina Panthers visit the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

The Carolina Panthers are 8-6 ATS but just 1-13 SU in their last 14 games as a double-digit underdog. The Panthers visit the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs at CenturyLink Field at 8:15 p.m. ET on Saturday night.

Carolina is a 10.5-point road underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Seattle's dominance at home is well documented but Carolina's defense should be able to keep this game close enough to cover the spread as such a large underdog -- even if the computer thinks the Seahawks might be able to squeak out an ATS win.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Seattle 31, Carolina 20.1

With their 27-16 win over Arizona, the Panthers picked up their fifth straight win and improved to 3-2 ATS over that stretch. The final score was not indicative of how thoroughly Carolina dominated the game, racking up 381 yards on offense while allowing only 78 total yards on defense. The Panthers have allowed only 11.8 points per game on defense over their five-game winning streak. Carolina is 1-6 SU and 3-4 ATS in its last seven games against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks hit their stride down the stretch with a perfect 6-0 SU and ATS record over their last six games to secure the top seed in the NFC. Seattle's defense has been as strong as ever over those six games, allowing a microscopic 6.5 points per game. With the defense playing so well and a 26-3 SU and 22-7 ATS record over its last 29 home games, depriving Seattle of another trip to the Super Bowl won't be easy. The Seahawks are 28-2 SU and 16-13-1 ATS in their last 30 games as a double-digit favorite according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

The UNDER is 4-1 in the last five games between these two teams and 5-1 in Seattle's last six games overall. Saturday's total is set at 40 points at the sportsbooks.

Both Carolina and Seattle enter this game with solid winning streaks and excellent play on defense in recent weeks. With home field advantage and an extra week to rest and prepare for this game, Seattle is a worthy double-digit favorite at home. But with a strong defense and running game of their own, the Panthers should keep this score respectable as 10.5-point underdogs.
