C.J. Spiller returns to practice, remains off the fantasy radar

C.J. Spiller isn't quite ready to return yet, but he's been cleared to practice. We break down the fantasy implications.

Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller returned to practice Wednesday, getting in a limited session. Spiller won't play this week and isn't eligible to be activated from the injured reserve/designated to return list until Week 16, but it's an encouraging sign that he's able to practice.

Spiller suffered a broken collarbone against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. It was thought to be a season-ending injury, but the Bills hedged their bets with the designated-to-return list. Spiller has had another disappointing season, rushing for just 287 yards on 69 carries and adding 14 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in seven games.

Fantasy impact: Bringing Spiller back for Week 16 would be a smart move if the 7-5 Bills are still in playoff contention by then. Unfortunately, that's also the week of the fantasy championship rounds, and Spiller on a possible snap count makes him mostly useless. For all intents and purposes, his fantasy season is over and he should be on the wire in all re-draft leagues.
