NHL schedule 2014: Blues vs. Blackhawks highlight 4-game slate

The Western Conference will be fully on display this Wednesday, including a marquee matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues.

The Western Conference will be on display in a well balanced four-game schedule on Wednesday, with the St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks headlining the slate. All four games will include at least one team from the West, with the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers being the only Eastern Conference teams in action.

Chicago and St. Louis both represent the Central Division and enter the contest with wins in their back pocket. The Blues are tied with the Nashville Predators atop the Central with 34 points and have won their last two contests, as well as seven of their last 10. Nashville lost to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, so any type of win or extra-time result would give the Blues sole possession of first place.

The Blackhawks trail the Central Division lead by three points and have won their last three games, as well as eight of their last 10. Chicago has had an affinity for 4-1 finishes, as their last three games have been decided by that margin -- wins against the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings; a loss to the Vancouver Canucks. The Blackhawks also demoralized the Edmonton Oilers last Saturday, 4-1.

This will be the second of five meetings between the Blackhawks and Blues. St. Louis won the first meeting in St. Louis, 3-2.

Here's a look at the rest of the schedule. All times are Eastern.
