Dele Alli completes Tottenham Hotspur switch

Spurs have beaten Newcastle to Alli's signature.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of England youth international midfielder Dele Alli from MK Dons. The 18-year-old was also subject to interest from their Premier League rivals Newcastle United, though Spurs' reported £5 million deadline day bid swung things in their favour.

Alli has made a handful of appearances for England's U-19 team, and is currently enjoying the best season of his short career. He has netted 12 times in 27 matches from midfield so far this campaign, helping The Dons to within a couple of points of league-leading Bristol City as we head into the latter half of the season.

He had been with the club throughout his professional career, having joined as a youth player back in 2007, and made his first professional appearance three years ago.

It's unlikely that he's going to feature too often for Spurs over the remainder of the current season, though he certainly looks like one to watch for the future.
