Australian Open 2015 bracket and results: Serena Williams, Novak Djokovic advance to Round of 16

The third round of the Australian Open is in the books and both of the top seeds, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, are still in the tournament.

Day 6 of the Australian Open is in the books, and the third round of the year's first Grand Slam is a thing of the past as well.

The tournament will move on to the Round of 16 as top seeds from both singles brackets were in action in the third round. Women's No. 1 seed Serena Williams didn't struggle against Elina Svitolina, the No. 26 seed, but she did show her first sign of weakness in the tournament by dropping the first set.

Williams, the heavy favorite to win the single's bracket to earn her 19th major title, wound up beating Svitolina, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, to advance into the fourth round. Williams will take on No. 24 seed Garbine Muguruza, who bested Timea Bacsinszky Saturday (local time -- the matches began Friday night and continued through Saturday morning in the United Stated), 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.

Other top women advanced as well, including No. 6 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, who took down No. 30 Varvara Lepchenko, 6-0, 7-5, and Venus Williams, who has been playing some of her best tennis of late, beating Camila Giorgi. No. 4 seed Petra Kvitova was the next top-seeded woman to lose out though, falling to unseeded American Madison Keys.

For the men, there weren't any significant upsets. No. 1 seed Novak Djokvic advanced with a dominant victory over No. 31 Fernando Verdasco, 7-6 (10-8), 6-2, 6-4, while No. 4 Stan Wawrinka, No. 9 David Ferrer and No. 8 Milos Raonic all advanced as well.
