The Western Conference's two wild card teams will square off on Sunday.
As is the custom this time of year, even Sunday schedules in the NHL are jam-packed with intriguing games and interesting storylines.
Suddenly thrust into the chaos of the wild card race, the Chicago Blackhawks will try to make the most out of a visit to Winnipeg. Chicago's slow fall from the top of the Western Conference standings finally reached its conclusion on Saturday when the Blackhawks dropped to the first wild card spot with the Jets right on their heels. Winnipeg is trying to distance from the likes of Dallas and Calgary, so Sunday's matchup is an opportunity it can't let slip away.
Speaking of the Flames, they'll try to bounce back from a loss on Friday by trouncing the Predators. Nashville has nothing to play for other than first-round playoff matchups after clinching their berth on Saturday. The Flames have to hope that means they can catch them off guard, but the Predators are notoriously stingy on home ice.
In all, 16 teams will be in action on Sunday with eight games on the schedule. It will be a full day of hockey with the action beginning in the afternoon in New York and continuing into the night with the final games in Pittsburgh and Winnipeg.
