Brandon Marshall's fantasy season is over with move to injured reserve

Brandon Marshall is officially done for the year with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Chicago Bears have officially placed wide receiver Brandon Marshall on injured reserve, ending his season.

Marshall suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung last Thursday in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He spent several days in the hospital. Marshall's 2014 season has been plagued by multiple injuries including a lingering ankle sprain, but he didn't miss a game before going down in Week 14. Marshall's season ends with 61 catches for 721 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games. Marquess Wilson will be the new starter alongside Alshon Jeffery.

Fantasy impact: Marshall wasn't expected to help fantasy owners for the playoffs and this news just makes it official, so you can drop him if you haven't done so already. He should be back to full strength in time for the offseason program, but he's going on 31 and has a laundry list of ailments. Although Marshall has a good chance of bouncing back into WR1 territory, he's not a must-own in keeper leagues and will undoubtedly slip in 2015 drafts.
