Cam Newton becomes Santa to surprise kids

One week after the car crash that caused Cam Newton to suffer two fractures in his back, the Panthers' quarterback was getting back on the horse (or into the SUV, as it were) to bring holiday cheer to those who need it.

Newton, along with teammates Kelvin Benjamin and Joe Webb, spent four hours visiting with students and teachers at several area schools, then went on to meet with homeless women and children -- all of whom got holiday gifts from the quarterback.

The Charlotte Observer captured one video, Newton getting a raucous welcome from West Mecklenburg High School, where he gave teachers gift cards ahead of the holidays.
