The second-to-last edition of this season's Playoff committee rankings will be out shortly. We'll have them right here as soon as they're in.
In five days, we'll know the four teams that will play for the College Football Playoff. Actually, in four days, we'll likely know at least a couple of them.
All Alabama, Florida State, and Oregon have to do is beat really good teams this weekend. Each one that pulls that off and thus wins its conference will be sure to land a spot in the Playoff. The fourth spot's where the drama is, though upsets along the way could create even more.
Tuesday night, expect TCU to hold the No. 4 spot, with Ohio State and Baylor behind. Barring chaos, that's the entire six-team list of contenders right there. Baylor and OSU have chances to vault the Frogs, with games against top-20 teams Kansas State and Wisconsin, respectively. But if the season ended right now, TCU would be in, and the other two will hope for style points on Saturday.
Based on where teams ranked last week, what we know the committee values, and what happened this past weekend, here's a rough guess on how things stack up Tuesday night:
1 | Alabama | 11-1 |
2 | Oregon | 11-1 |
3 | Florida State | 12-0 |
4 | TCU | 10-1 |

6 | Baylor | 10-1 |
7 | Arizona | 10-2 |
8 | Michigan State | 10-2 |
9 | Mississippi State | 10-2 |
10 | Kansas State | 9-2 |
11 | Georgia Tech | 10-2 |
12 | Ole Miss | 9-3 |
13 | Wisconsin | 10-2 |
14 | Missouri | 10-2 |
15 | Georgia | 9-3 |
16 | Oklahoma | 8-3 |
17 | Arizona State | 9-3 |
18 | UCLA | 9-3 |
