The 2014 MLS Cup Final has gone to extra time, with the LA Galaxy and New England Revolution tied up at 1-1 after 90 minutes of play. Gyasi Zardes got the Galaxy on the board early, but Chris Tierney -- the Revs' longest-serving player -- fired them back level 12 minutes from time to help his team stay alive.
There will be 30 minutes of extra time played, in two 15-minute periods. If the score is tied after that, the two teams will head to penalties, which are best of five, followed by sudden death if there's still no winner. Like most competitions, there's no golden goal and all 30 minutes of extra time will be played.
While the game is at StubHub Center and LA earned the privilege to be the home team by finishing the regular season with a better record than New England, they are not the "home team" for scoring purposes. There is no away goals rule in effect.
