Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 17: Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins has been overshadowed by a number of rookie receivers. Should fantasy owners trust him?

Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins cost a pretty penny for the Bills on draft day, but it's working out so far based on his impressive rookie season. In 15 games, he's totaled 925 yards on 62 receptions with six scores despite some poor quarterback play. Sure, he's no Odell Beckham Jr., but who is?

He's really been held in check since his Week 9 bye, though. Since then, Watkins has only had two games with more than six fantasy points in PPR leagues, so he's slowed down a ton from his breakneck pace earlier this season.

Watkins and the Bills get a bad matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 17. They rank as the third-worst matchup for fantasy receivers and have allowed just 1.1 touchdowns per game to WRs since Week 7. However, they're going to rest guys for the playoffs, so Watkins won't get the Revis treatment all game.

Fantasy impact: Considering that there are a lot of players who will be rested, Watkins is a somewhat safe WR2 this week.
