Carlos Vela set to miss 2 months after knee surgery

The Mexican international and Real Soceidad striker tore the meniscus in his right knee.

Real Sociedad will be without star striker Carlos Vela for the next two months after the Mexican international tore the meniscus in his right knee on Saturday. Vela suffered the injury in the first half of La Real's loss to Real Madrid, and will undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Vela has scored seven goals and two assists this season in 20 appearances for La Real, and he's the team's leading scorer by a solid margin. It's a huge blow for David Moyes who has seen his side struggle to score goals in general since taking over in November.

Depending on how the surgery goes, he's likely to miss eight league games, but could return in early April if his rehab goes well.

La Real are currently in 13th place in La Liga, four points clear of the drop zone.
