Patrick Kane leaves game after nasty hit

Chicago's star winger flew into the boards as a result of a cross-check.

The Chicago Blackahwks entered Tuesday's contest against the Florida Panthers hoping to right the ship after three straight losses and defeats in five of their last seven. Despite an early lead, matters have only gotten worse.

A cross-check from Florida's Alex Petrovic sent star winger Patrick Kane flying into the boards during the first period, forcing the start winger to leave the game. According to the Chicago Tribune's Chris Kuc, Kane appeared to damage his left wrist or left shoulder.

It goes without saying that losing Kane for an extended time would be a huge blow to Chicago. The 26-year-old currently has the most points in the NHL with 64 (27 goals, 37 assists), and is a candidate for the Hart Trophy, awarded annually to the league's MVP.
