Super Bowl 2015 odds: Patriots enter game as slight favorites over Seahawks

The latest information on the betting lines for Super Bowl XLIX.

With Super Bowl 49 mere hours away, it appears that the lines are effectively set. That includes most of the late money bet on the game in casinos across Las Vegas.

After the initial betting line for the Super Bowl came in at Seattle Seahawks -2, the line quickly shifted toward the New England Patriots. This is a normal betting pattern for the Super Bowl -- the game draws in a larger pool of bettors than the average NFL game, and the public loves to wager money on future Hall of Fame quarterbacks like New England's Tom Brady. According to OddsShark, the spread now ranges from Patriots -1 to -1.5 on most books, though 5Dimes has switched back to the Seahawks as 1.5-point favorites.

With the lines as they stand, more money is coming in on the Seahawks. OddsShark has the defending champs are claiming 55 percent of current bets against the spread, no doubt influenced by the present state of the line. Rarely are defending champions not heavily favored in the Super Bowl, let alone receiving points.

Meanwhile, the over/under hasn't changed much since the lines first came out two weeks ago. It opened at 48.5 points in most places and went down to 47.5. That figure has held for much of the past week and is very unlikely to change before kickoff.

In terms of betting trends, OddsShark has just over half of the wagers coming in on the over, which is typical for the Super Bowl. The public generally leans toward more points being scored in championship games.
