Andres Iniesta injury: Blow to back fells Barcelona midfielder

The Spanish star took a few hard blows in this match, and finally had to come out early in the second half.

Andres Iniesta is the second player to leave Barcelona's Champions League quarterfinal match with Paris Saint-Germain with injury, after Thiago Silva left in the first half with a leg injury. Iniesta departed early in the second half with an apparent back injury, and had to be stretchered off while holding his back after collapsing in a heap in the 53rd minute.

Iniesta was knocked around quite a bit during the course of the match, with him consistently coming off on the worse end of clashes with PSG midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Iniesta had already spent several minutes on the turf in the first half receiving treatment to his back, but after this occurrence, there was apparently too much pain to go on.

Barcelona will be hoping that Iniesta won't be out for long, as the midfielder is still heavily relied upon in their midfield. Iniesta was replaced in the match by Xavi, who is making his 169th Champions League appearance, passing the previous mark of 168 set by Italian defender Paolo Maldini.
