Fantasy football start/sit advice, Week 13: Ryan Mathews

Ryan Mathews will be active against the Baltimore Ravens. We take a look at his fantasy impact.

Ryan Mathews returned in Week 11 with a fresh set of legs, and he's performed well since. In Week 12, Mathews rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown with just 12 carries against a tough St. Louis Rams run defense. He didn't get through the game completely unscathed however. Mathews left the game for nearly 20 minutes with a shoulder injury. It was enough to place him on the injury report, but Mathews will play on Sunday.

Mathews will now face another difficult match up as the Chargers head to Baltimore to face the Ravens. He'll continue to see a healthy workload, and he's always a threat in the passing game. The Chargers will likely get Mathews involved in the game plan plenty.

Fantasy impact: The shoulder injury was just a quick reminder of how brittle Mathews has been throughout his career. However, when he's healthy, he's a solid start for fantasy owners. There's always a risk that he could aggravate his recent shoulder injury, but it's his job to lose while he's on the field.

Branden Oliver and Donald Brown have been mostly ineffective even with Mathews off the field. The Chargers will continue to lean on Mathews out of the backfield. Despite the difficult match up, Mathews is an RB2.
