Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is eyeing a big day against a poor Tennessee Titans run defense in his first game back from a groin injury.
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is officially active for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Foster is now sufficiently recovered from a groin injury that sidelined him for Houston's last two games. Houston definitely missed Foster while he was gone, though rookie Alfred Blue did manage to look respectable in his absence.
Still, when Foster went down with the injury, he was second in the NFL in rushing yardage, trailing only DeMaro Murray of the Dallas Cowboys. After missing two games, he ranks eighth in the NFL with 161 carries for 822 yards and seven touchdowns. Counting a game earlier in the season as well, Foster has now missed three games on the year.
Sporting a per-carry average of 5.1 yards, Foster is expected to have a big game against a shoddy Tennessee run defense on Sunday. The Titans allow a league-worst 145.4 rushing yards per game on average, a figure that Foster topped the last time these teams met, in Week 8. For that game, Foster carried the ball 20 times for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and he added another four receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown through the air.
