March Madness Sweet 16 Odds Preview: Michigan State Spartans vs. Oklahoma Sooners

No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 7 Michigan State battle for a spot in the Elite Eight this Friday night.

The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners are 4-0 ATS and 3-1 SU in their last four trips to the Sweet 16. The Sooners hope to continue their Sweet 16 success this Friday against the No. 7 Michigan State Spartans at the Carrier Dome.

Oklahoma is a 2-point underdog on Friday night, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Sooners have won each of their last three games in the Sweet 16 with their last loss in this round coming back in 1999 to none other than Michigan State.

The Sooners broke out of their 1-8 ATS slump on Sunday with a 72-66 win and cover over the Dayton Flyers as a 4-point favorite. While Oklahoma hasn't been covering the spread much of late, they do continue to pile up the wins with a 12-3 SU record over their last 15 games.

Oklahoma hasn't fared well as an underdog this season with a 2-6 SU and ATS record with a 1-5 SU and ATS record as a dog since January 13.

After taking care of business as a 6-point favorite against No. 10 Georgia in the Round of 64, Michigan State took on the role of underdog at +4.5 against No. 2 Virginia on Sunday. The result was the same, with the Spartans winning outright, 60-54, and improving to 10-3 SU and 9-4 ATS over their last 13 games.

This will be Michigan State's fourth straight appearance in the Sweet 16 and its 11th since the year 2000. The Spartans are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 Sweet 16 games, but just 1-2 SU and 0-3 ATS over their last three.

Friday's total is set at 134.5 points at the sportsbooks for the Spartans vs. Sooners betting matchup. The UNDER is 5-0 in Michigan State's last five Sweet 16 appearances and 4-0 in Oklahoma's last four games as an underdog.

The Spartans are 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS in their last seven games as the favorite in the Sweet 16. With nearly identical records and offensive outputs this season, Michigan State and Oklahoma match up well on paper and should provide an entertaining contest in the last game of the Sweet 16 of March Madness.
