Line brawl erupts between Canucks, Flames in Game 2

The rivalry is back and it is angry.

The playoff rivalry between the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames about a decade ago was something to behold. Long story short, you could pretty much expect fisticuffs every single time they met on the ice during the postseason.

It's nice to see some things don't change. Near the end of the Flames and Canucks' Game 2 of the first round on Friday, a few shoves around the net resulted in an all-out line brawl that sent multiple players to the locker room early and could result in a suspension.

With about a minute left in the game, a scrum developed near the Canucks net. Everyone picked a partner, discarded their equipment and started throwing punches. It was all fun and games until Dan Hamhuis tried to tag-team a Flames player.

That is certainly illegal, and you can expect some sort of suspension or fine later in this series. The aftermath of the whole scene was like a NHL yard sale.

Even after the fights were over, the two teams wouldn't stop goading each other.

The boxscore might be the best part, though.

Ah, Flames-Canucks. It's good to have you back.
