Chandler Parsons injury: Mavericks forward limps to locker room, returns to game

His right knee has been a problem of late.

Chandler Parsons limped to the locker room after apparently suffering some serious pain in his right knee in the first half of the Mavericks' Game 1 against the Rockets on Saturday.

UPDATE: Parsons returned to the court shortly after being checked backstage. Trainers found no reason to keep him out if he could play, and Parsons indeed played with a slight limp the rest of the second quarter.

Parsons missed the final six games of the regular season with right knee pain, and didn't practice until Friday. He looked healthy early in Game 1, including on a streaking dunk. But late in the second he limped to the bench, where Dallas' training staff looked at his right knee. He quickly headed backstage.

Parsons had six points on 3-8 shooting before leaving the game. He famously joined the Mavericks in the 2014 offseason after three years with the Rockets. The decision was not well-received in Houston.

If Parsons' injury is serious, it could lead to Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle relying more heavily on Al-Farouq Aminu and Richard Jefferson. Parsons has been a valuable scorer supplementing Dirk Nowitzki and Monta Ellis this season.
