The Wildcats improved to 31-0 with a win over Florida.
Kentucky isn't the first college basketball team to finish the regular season undefeated. Wichita State did it just last year in the Missouri Valley, and UNLV did it in 1991, as well. Still, with a 67-50 victory over Florida in the regular season finale, Kentucky has already started to etch its name in the college basketball record books. At 31-0, the Wildcats now head into the SEC Tournament. The challenge of finishing the year at 40-0 is just getting started.
In a sense, Kentucky's win over Florida encapsulated just how dominant it's been this season. The Wildcats' defense forced 17 Gator turnovers and got stops whenever it felt like Florida could make a run. Freshman big man Karl-Anthony Towns was a one-man wrecking crew, blocking six shots and adding 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
As always with Kentucky, it was a team effort. Trey Lyles added 14 points, the Harrison twins combined for 17 points and Willie Cauley-Stein contributed eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Florida only trailed by three at halftime, but Kentucky closed the game with a 37-23 advantage in the second half.
Florida was led by a big game from sophomore point guard Kasey Hill, who finished with 15 points.
