The third round of the NCAA Tournament tips off on Saturday, with sixteen games taking place over the next weekend. The action will be a little less chaotic than the first two days of the tournament, but the on-court action shouldn't be any less exciting.
Saturday's slate features two of the No. 1 seeds in Kentucky and Villanova. Neither team had much problem taking care of their No. 16 seed opponents in the second round. The day also features two of the biggest upset tams in the second round, No. 14 seeds UAB and Georgia State. UAB will face UCLA, which had an upset of its own against No. 6 SMU. This game ensures that at least one double-digit team will be playing next weekend. Georgetown vs. Utah and Notre Dame vs. Butler are also interesting games to watch for.
Sunday's action has a dream matchup between Kansas and Wichita State. The schools lie in the same state and have a fairly intense rivalry despite not playing each other since 1992. The Shockers will try to get farther than they did last year, when they ran the table in the regular season but got knocked out in the third round by Kentucky.
The Missouri Valley's other tournament team -- Northern Iowa -- will take on Louisville in Seattle. The Panthers held off a feisty Wyoming team Friday, while Louisville had to survive a nail-biting finish against UC Irvine. The winner of that game has a likely date with Villanova in the Sweet 16. Other intriguing matchups on Sunday include Virginia vs. Michigan State, Wisconsin vs. Oregon and Gonzaga vs. Iowa.
