The Islanders and Sharks will try to get back on track following weekend defeats.
The New York Islanders, who have spent much of this year atop the Metropolitan Division, have dropped three of four and are suddenly at risk of falling out of first place. If there's any time to get back on track, it's now.
Today, the Isles are slated to take on the woeful Toronto Maple Leafs, who are coming off a brutal 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night. New York only has 15 games left on its regular season schedule, and beating teams at the bottom of the standings is as important as ever.
Elsewhere, the San Jose Sharks will try to keep their playoff hopes alive when the Pittsburgh Penguins visit for a rare meeting at the SAP Center. San Jose is currently 10th in the West, and a win over Pittsburgh -- one of the East's most dangerous teams -- could go a long way towards getting the Sharks back into the postseason.
This will be the first of two meetings between these clubs in 2014-15. San Jose has dropped six of 10; Pittsburgh, on the other hand, has won six of seven.
