Nashville could book their playoff ticket against their old coach.
The Nashville Predators could earn their most satisfying win of the season on Saturday.
The Predators need a win of any sort to book their ticket to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That alone would be a great reward, but their opponent makes clinching even that much sweeter. Nashville visits Washington, where their former long-time coach Barry Trotz now holds court.
As far as anyone knows, there isn't any ill-will between Trotz and his old club. But you have to think that the veteran Predators will come out packing a few extra punches to show their old boss what he's missing.
Elsewhere, the Florida Panthers will visit the Montreal Canadiens in their first game since learning center Nick Bjugstad will miss the rest of the season. Saturday is a good first test for the weaker Panthers, since the Canadiens are hungry to clinch a playoff spot of their own.
