Though the Oilers struggled once again, their top center had a heck of a game.
On Sunday, the reeling Oilers blew a 3-0 lead versus the Hurricanes and ultimately lost, 7-4, adding another embarrassing game on top of what has become a horrific year in Edmonton. At the very least, team brass can take solace in the fact that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is locked up for the foreseeable future.
Nugent-Hopkins, 21, notched his second career hat trick against Carolina -- a feat capped by his third period tally past Cam Ward.
Nugent-Hopkins raised his goal total to 19 on the season. He leads the Oilers in that category.
