NFL owners have passed the rule proposal banning the use of ineligible receivers like the Patriots did in the AFC divisional playoffs.

Thomas Edison said that invention was 10-percent inspiration and 90-percent perspiration. The Patriots' trick play in the AFC divisional playoffs was the inspiration, and the Ravens' complaining about it made up the perspiration. Now they got their wish.
NFL owners elected to ban the trick play on Wednesday that seemingly made eligible and illegible receivers confusing. Despite the fact referees made it clear which was which, and press at the stadium didn't seem confused.
The result for fans: Less trick plays and innovation on the offensive side of the ball. It's disappointing for a sport that should be evolving on the tactical side, but hey at least a play in an already decided game was over-ruled. The Ravens' Twitter account couldn't help but point that out.
