This is not Sunderland Jozy.
Jurgen Klinsmann doesn't love to see all of his players trading in the challenge of Europe for the money and promised stardom of MLS, but even he'll have to admit that this is a very good thing. Jozy Altidore had a tough 18-month spell at Sunderland, barely seeing the field and seriously struggling in front of goal when he did. Just 32 minutes into his MLS return with Toronto FC, he has a goal, and what a goal it was.
And before getting into what Jozy did, check out the assist from Sebastian Giovinco. That's a crazy pass, and exactly the kind of thing he's being paid $7 million to do.
But while it's a great pass, it appears to be intended for Robbie Findley, not Altidore. But Jozy still made a great run, was able to get on the end of the ball when Findley stumbled, then showed off some excellent footwork to get around David Ousted and finish. It's been a while since we've seen this type of composure out of Jozy, and hopefully for USMNT fans, it's a sign of things to come.
