The unbeaten Kentucky Wildcats are the top overall seed. They're joined by representatives from the Big East, Big Ten and ACC.
Kentucky, Villanova, Wisconsin and Duke will be the four No. 1 seeds in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced Sunday.
Kentucky became the first major conference team to finish an undefeated regular season since the 1975-76 Indiana squad, and was an easy pick for the tournament's top seed. After non-conference wins over Kansas, Texas, North Carolina and Louisville, the Wildcats tore through their SEC schedule without a blemish. A menacing defensive force, Kentucky has nine potential NBA players on its roster with two potential top-five picks in the upcoming draft.
Big Ten champions Wisconsin has one of the most efficient offensive attacks in the nation and was a top-10 mainstay all season long. The Badgers recorded a neutral-site win over Oklahoma in non-conference play and recorded Big Ten wins against Ohio State and Michigan State (as well as a season sweep of Iowa). Wisconsin is led by senior forward and top NBA prospect Frank Kaminsky, averaging 18.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game this year.
Villanova won the Big East for the second straight season and will be looking to make their first Final Four since 2009. The Wildcats recorded neutral-site victories over VCU and Michigan and swept Big East series against Butler, Xavier and Providence. Villanova is, as usual, a guard-heavy team, and led by Darrun Hilliard (14.1 points per game) and Josh Hart (46.1 percent on three-pointers), they could pose a dangerous matchup.
Duke missed out on the ACC title for the fifth straight season, but the Blue Devils still managed to cement themselves as major contenders for the national title once again. The most efficient offensive team in the nation, Duke averages 81.1 points per game and is led by freshman big man Jahlil Okafor (17.4 points, 9.0 rebounds per game). The Blue Devils recorded a road win at Wisconsin and a neutral-site win against Michigan State in non-conference play, with ACC wins against Virginia, Louisville and a season sweep of North Carolina.
