NIT 2015 selection show: Time, TV schedule and more

The consolation tournament for men's college basketball teams not selected to the NCAA Tournament will set its bracket on Sunday.

After the dust has settled from the NCAA Tournament bracket release, the bracket for the NIT Tournament will be released a few hours later.

The National Invitation Tournament doesn't carry the same prestige as the NCAA Tournament and is thought as the runner-up tournament for the teams that didn't have a regular season strong enough to make the 68-team field battling to become national champions. Still, it's a chance for teams that had less-than-steller seasons and something to prove to finish on a high note and validate their snub complaints.

Madison Square Garden will play host to the NIT's version of the Final Four, with the quarterfinal winners headed to New York for semifinals games on Tuesday, March 31 and a championship game two days later. The Minnesota Golden Gophers topped Southern Methodist in the 2014 NIT.

The first round of the NIT begins on Tuesday, March 17 and the tournament concludes on Thursday, April 2. Here is the information for the NIT selection show airing on Sunday, March 15 and how to watch it.

Time: 8:30 p.m. ET

TV Schedule: ESPNU
