NIT selection show 2015 live stream: How to watch the selection show online

College basketball's consolation tournament will have its selection show streamed online at WatchESPN.

The National Invitational Tournament is a bit of a punching bag in the college basketball world. Nobody wants to play in it, because it means you weren't good enough for the NCAA Tournament. On the other hand, it does mean the players get to have more games, and that surely means something for the seniors nearing the end of their basketball careers. Plus, we get the occasional hilarious moment, like when No. 8 seed Robert Morris upset top seed Kentucky in 2013.

So not everybody takes the tournament seriously, but it's still a decent midweek methadone when you're waiting for the Big Dance to start back up on the weekend. The event will take place at Madison Square Garden and ESPN has coverage across its family of networks.

We already know several of the teams that will be playing -- teams that won their regular-season conference title but lost in the tournament have automatic bids to the NIT. In a new wrinkle this year, the "last four out" from the NCAA selection committee will earn the No. 1 seeds.

The NIT selection show starts at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU and will be streamed at WatchESPN. You will need an authorized cable or satellite account to access the show online.

The NIT starts on March 17 and concludes on April 2. We will have complete coverage of the tournament over the next few weeks, because NIT teams are people too.
