Sadly, we were denied a goalkeeper goal in the dying minutes.
It took a replay, quite a bit of time and a brilliant save at the death, but Liverpool have finally booked their place in the FA Cup semifinals. Coutinho was their hero, scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, and Simon Mignolet had to come up with a bit stop on Jake Eastwood in stoppage time.
There wasn't a lot of action in this one at all, from either side, in either half. The biggest event of the first half was a Jordan Rhodes header that went just over in the 26th minute, which he was allowed to get to because Mamadou Sakho pulled up lame. He came off injured, with Kolo Toure replacing him.
Blackburn got off to a brilliant start in the second half, winning a corner right away, then nearly scoring off it. Ben Marshall directed a powerful header at the near post from 10 yards, but Mignolet was able to get across to make a spectacular diving stop.
Liverpool went in front off a corner of their own, in the 69th minute. Coutinho's initial corner was cleared away, but Liverpool worked the ball back in to him, and he curled an impressive shot around Jake Eastwood from just inside the box to put his side ahead.
Blackburn sent Eastwood forward on a throw in stoppage time, and he nearly fired them into extra time. The ball fell to the Blackburn keeper and he made an impressive turn and shot from 12 yards, but Mignolet got down well to deny him what would have undoubtedly been the best moment of his career.
