Arsenal weren't dominant, but certainly better than Burnley and deserved their win.
Like most sides that have come to Turf Moor this season, Arsenal found chances a bit difficult to come by and had to do some tough defending on the counter. But the Gunners were always in control of Burnley, aided by an early goal. With their visitors having no need to take risks, Burnley couldn't really get going, and Arsenal ran out comfortable 1-0 winners.
The opening minutes were even until the home crowd was silenced by Aaron Ramsey. There was a bit of a scramble in the 12th minute that resulted in Tom Heaton making a pair of saves, but the third time was the charm for Arsenal. Once the ball fell to Ramsey, he hit an impressive shot into the back of the net.
Following the goal, the match was what you'd expect from the two sides. Arsenal had two-thirds of the possession, but didn't do a lot with it. Burnley had some dangerous-looking counters, but didn't quite have the quality to finish them off. Burnley's best opportunity in the first half was a Kieran Trippier free kick that David Ospina turned over the bar.
Burnley went close a couple times in the second half, but couldn't capitalize. George Boyd whiffed on a volley attempt from close range in the 70th minute and Danny Ings just missed connecting on an overhead kick three minutes later. But ultimately, Burnley persisted with defending in two banks of four, keeping both teams from doing much of anything.
