UConn and Notre Dame will meet for the second year in a row in the NCAA women's championship game.
The 2015 NCAA women's championship game features a rematch of last year's final. The Connecticut Huskies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet for the top prize in women's college basketball.
The Huskies stormed through the regular season with just one loss and had little trouble reaching the final round. They are looking for their third straight national championship and 10th under head coach Geno Auriemma. UConn crushed Maryland, 81-58, in the Final Four while shooting 53.7 percent from the field. Breanna Stewart led the way for the Huskies with 25 points on 7-of-13 shooting, filling the stat sheet with eight rebounds, three assists, four blocks and two steals. Morgan Tuck was close behind with 24 points and nine rebounds on 10-of-16 shooting.
The Irish amassed a 31-2 record in the regular season, getting a No. 1 seed in the tournament. Unlike UConn, Notre Dame ran into some trouble in the semifinals against South Carolina. The Gamecocks rallied from a 12-point deficit to take a 65-64 lead in the final minute, but Madison Cable sealed the game with a put-back shot with 18 seconds left. It was her only basket of the game, but she scored when it mattered most.
Notre Dame is looking for its second NCAA championship. The Irish last lifted the trophy in 2001, beating Purdue in the final round.
