Sefolosha will not play again this season after suffering a serious injury while being arrested early Wednesday morning for obstructing justice.
Atlanta Hawks swingman Thabo Sefolosha will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a broken ankle while being arrested by New York police early Wednesday morning, according to Real GM's Shams Charana.
Sefolosha and teammate Pero Antic were arrested for obstructing justice during an. incident in which Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed outside a New York City nightclub. Police say Sefolosha charged at an officer, according to the New York Times. Sefolosha was seen walking with a limp as he was detained by police.
Sefolosha is averaging five points and four rebounds in 19 minutes a game this season. He missed 23 games with a calf strain before recently returning to the lineup. The Hawks will rely more heavily on starting forward DeMarre Carroll and reserve wing Kent Bazemore with Sefolosha sidelined.
Antic was unharmed in the incident. Copeland is currently in the ICU after undergoing surgery following the stabbing.
