Arizona Wildcats vs. Xavier Musketeers Sweet 16 Odds Matchup

The red-hot No. 2 Arizona Wildcats look to stay hot in a Sweet 16 matchup against No. 6 Xavier on Thursday.

The No. 2 Arizona Wildcats are 13-0 SU and 10-3 ATS over their last 13 games. Arizona will try to continue its surge towards the Elite Eight this Thursday against the No. 6 Xavier Musketeers at Staples Center.

Arizona is an 11-point favorite against Xavier according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This is the biggest underdog that Xavier has been since February of 2005.

Many believed that the Wildcats should be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament after they finished the season on a 16-1 SU and 14-3 ATS run. However, Arizona is doing just fine as a No. 2 seed, crushing No. 15 Texas Southern 93-72 and No. 10 Ohio State 73-58. Considered by many to be one of the only teams that could give Kentucky a real scare, the Wildcats have certainly looked like a legitimate threat over the last few months. Arizona is 11-3 ATS in its last 14 games as a double-digit favorite.

No team has made more money for its backers in the NCAA Tournament in recent years than the Xavier Musketeers, who are 20-3-1 ATS in their last 24 March Madness games. Xavier picked up comfortable wins and covers over Mississippi and Georgia State to advance into this Sweet 16 test against Arizona. The Musketeers are 5-0 ATS in their last five games in the Sweet 16 and 12-1 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog in the NCAA Tournament.

The OVER is 9-1-1 in Arizona's last 11 trips to the Sweet 16 and 4-1 in Xavier's last five trips to the Sweet 16. Thursday night's total is set at 136 points at the sportsbooks.

No. 2 seeds have enjoyed a 14-2 SU edge over No. 6 seeds in the last 16 No. 2 vs. No 6 matchups, but No. 6 teams have held the recent ATS edge at 5-2 ATS. With the way that Arizona is playing, an outright upset for Xavier would be a tall order; but if recent tournament history is any indication the Musketeers aren't likely to go down without a fight.
