Even the Kentucky guy who isn't going pro couldn't wait to cash in.
Thursday, seven of Kentucky's players declared for the NBA Draft, leaving Kentucky early to begin their professional careers. But they weren't the only Wildcats who couldn't wait to cash in on their successful playing careers:
BOOOOOOOM Official: Sam Malone "WON EVERY GAME I PLAYED" Human Victory Cigar T-Shirts https://t.co/LxTqRPEgpY http://ift.tt/1NZo5NB
— Sam Malone (@SamMaloneuk13) April 9, 2015 That's right: Sam Malone, the 5'11 guard who scored one point for the Wildcats this year, released shirts with a picture of himself smoking a cigar on them. He wasn't allowed to do this while he was an active player -- selling anything with an image of a player is pretty much the most blatant NCAA violation -- but Malone's career is now done, so he can sell shirts all he wants.
Malone had pretty much the greatest career anybody can ask for: he won a national championship, became a folk hero for his dedication to wearing a headband in spite of the fact that he didn't play enough to work up a sweat and made a bunch of famous friends. (Check out his Instagram, which is mainly pictures of him with teammates-turned-NBA players and Drake and stuff.) He's not lying on that shirt: the Wildcats did win all 17 games he played in. Who cares if he only scored seven points in those games?
