Tampa Bay trades safety Dashon Goldson to Washington

Washington swapped sixth-round 2016 draft pick to Buccaneers for Goldson and seventh-round 2016 pick.

NFL safety Dashon Goldson has been traded to Washington from the Buccaneers, according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network. The Buccaneers agreed to ship Goldson and a 2016 seventh-round NFL Draft pick to Washington in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2016.

Goldson, who signed with the Bucs in 2013, started all 27 games he played over the past two seasons, recording 151 tackles, nine passes defensed, forcing two fumbles, recovering one fumble and picking up an interception during that time. Goldson signed a five-year deal worth $41.25 million when he first arrived in Tampa Bay, so it's possible Washington will be looking to restructure his contract.

Goldson has a $7.5 million base salary for 2015 and the Bucs will reportedly still be paying $4 million in guaranteed salary.

Goldson is a two-time All-Pro player in 2011 and 2012 who was drafted in the fourth round in 2007 by San Francisco, when current Washington general manager Scot McCloughan worked for the 49ers.
