This might be the best goal in any league this year.
We usually talk about goal of the year candidates as if they're exclusive to the NHL. If AHL player Justin Dowling has anything to say about it, that unwritten rule should change.
The Texas Stars' forward scored an unbelievable goal against the Chicago Wolves on Saturday that blows just about every other goal this season in North American hockey out of the water. With the Stars up 3-1 in the third period, Dowling toe-dragged around a defender and then deked the puck past the goalie with one hand to score.
Just...wow. That one is going to be hard to beat by any player in any league the rest of the year.
